Other than being Director of Little Miss Scrabbled, my other passion is health and fitness. I have worked for over 12 years teaching exercise classes and helping people reach their ideal weight.
I want to share with you 5 Key ways to lose weight that put together will help you reach your target weight and body shape. This is a promise! But you need to do all five things and keep doing them.
FOLLOW THIS ADVICE AND YOU WILL LOOK GREAT!
Don’t follow them and you will NOT CHANGE.
Think January and think Panic, Rush, ” I need to get back into shape!”..” I need to shed those pounds”…. You don’t! Follow these 5 steps / ways / tips..call it what you want and you will see the difference.
If you want to maintain weight loss long term e.g. KEEP the weight off, what you DON’T DO is hit the gym 5 days a week, go on a ridiculous DIET and starve yourself. If you have done this or are thinking about doing it, know this first – It won’t last and it won’t work! This thing you are trying to achieve NEEDS to become part of your life and if you are not ready to change and not ready to adapt your old ways of living – IT WON’T WORK.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it’s true. SO…. this is what you need to start off doing. Change things gradually. 1 – Your Exercise habits… Try and go to an exercise class or the gym once a week. Stick this out for 3-4 weeks. When you manage that and have stopped the excuses such as..’ It’s cold’..’I’m too tired after that meeting’.. then you are ready to up it …try twice a week…do this again for another 3-4 weeks…Manage it? you are at the beginning of your journey if you get this far! Most of you will have given up….Next Add another session to your plan.
REMEMBER… This is long term. Think of it as a University Degree Course or when you sat your Driving test and all the weeks and months that you needed to practice to be able to pass.
You should aim to get 3 or more exercise sessions in a week (LONG TERM PLAN). FOOD – I am not going into the food details at this stage.. You need to focus on one thing at a time or it WILL GO WRONG. The only thing food related I will talk about is in no.2
Diets don’t work…..wait for it…..LONG TERM! They don’t. You give me 100 people who have been on a diet and let’s see how many maintain the weight loss! 1-2 % is my guess.
What I want you to do instead for the beginning of this journey is look at your portion size and the amount of food you are putting inside your body in one sitting. Keep your portion sizes down.. One plate not two if you get what I mean.
Your body is like a Car, it needs fuel. How many of you would try to put Diesel into a Petrol Car over and over again?…What would happen if you did?…The car would not run properly. Think about that when you are shoveling that rubbish into your mouth.
Without this you be as well not bothering. Losing weight and looking great will take weeks and months of consistent work. This means no skipping the gym. If you need to cancel one night go on another night (in the same week!).
In a nut shell if you don’t maintain a consistent approach to this game you will LOSE! And I don’t mean weight.. Whatever you are doing you MUST MUST MUST get into a routine and stick to it.
Not necessarily the Dream, however something that moves you forward and on to the next step. Be aware that when you reach your first little goal (milestone) that you have the next one ready. Example.. If you want to lose 1 stone, break this down into manageable chunks.. You might not know how long it will take..BUT TIME SHOULD NOT BE A DRIVER..(In my eyes) if you want to make this a ‘for life’ change concentrate on concrete steps such as dropping a dress size.
What I mean here is you are destined to fail if you attempt to keep up an activity you don’t enjoy. For me it’s running. I hate it. Boring comes to mind..But that’s just me. My dad loved it..He ran marathon after marathon.. What Cardio activity do you like doing? If you don’t know pick a couple and try them out. Remember this is long term and once a week to start..My brother does Badminton.. I used to play football..Everyone is different.
RECAP – Don’t force yourself to do something that you don’t really want to do.
